A beautiful home is something we all strive for but it can be so expensive to change key parts of rooms like soft furnishings! However, if you know how to make roman blinds and curtains by yourself, you’ll have a different window dressing for every season! Halloween roman blinds anyone?
ROMAN BLINDS & CURTAINS CLASSES – CHORLEY
Our curtain and roman blind classes are designed to give you the knowledge and skill to go home and confidently make curtains and blinds for every room. It is one of the most expensive parts of decorating a house, especially if you have high ceilings but making them yourself can save you thousands of pounds!
Both our romans blind and curtain classes are for those who have completed our beginners class or who have a few projects under their belt. get in touch if you’re unsure!
Roman Blind – This is 6 hour class where you will leave with a complete blind ready to be put up in your home! How cool is that? We’ll help with everything from measuring the window, calculating the fabric requirements to making the beautiful blind itself.
The maximum sized roman blind we can make in class is 142cm wide. A materials list will be sent upon booking
Curtain Class – This 5 hour class takes you through the 2 main types of curtain(eyelet and pencil pleat). We will make 2 little mock curtains in class. You’ll learn u how to insert a professional lining and how to work with the different header tapes. We’ve crammed loads of learning outcomes into one day so you can leave the class feeling like a curtain expert! You’ll be dying to get home and get making the real deal! A materials list will be sent upon booking.
Both classes include use of our sewing machines, equipment and some of the blind/curtain components. Anything else you need to bring will be in the booking email.
You should buy some non stretch upholstery fabric for the outside of your blind and some curtain lining will do for the inside. Most bricks and mortar shops will help you out and if you are unsure of a particular fabric just get in touch.
Most upholstery fabrics are around this width therefore the maximum size you can make without having to piece and pattern match your blind will be 142cm. Trust us it is way less complicated this way on your first blind!
The class aims to teach you all the different tips and techniques associated with making a variety of curtain styles so you can leave with the best knowledge to take into your real curtain making project. If you would like to make a full sized pair of curtains we would suggest you come along for a private lesson and make full use of the studio space for layout and construction.
