Have you always wanted to learn how to sew, or perhaps you are getting back into it after a break? We’ve got the very class for you!

Our beginners sewing class is suitable for absolute beginners and those looking to get back into it after a short break. We go through the threading of the machine, winding the bobbin, troubleshooting like what to do when it starts making a horrible noise! We then make lots of small projects such as tote bag, bunting, zipped and lined make up bag and a piped cushion with a zip. These projects build your sewing skills and give your the confidence to move onto more advanced projects and classes!

No need to bring or even own a sewing machine as we have everything you need in the studio!

Our courses are held in our bright and creative sewing studios in Glasgow West, Chorley and Dundee and includes free tea/coffee/biscuits.

We have several different types of the same course these are:

  • 2 Day Class - Held at the weekend over 2 consecutive Saturdays or Sundays 10am - 5pm

  • 3 Day Time Classes - This is held during the week, during the day. Designed for those who work at weekends or want to work the class around their kids being at school. Runs over 3 consecutive days from 10am - 2pm

  • Evening Class - Runs over 6 evenings, once per week from 6.30-9pm

Top 3 Beginner’s Sewing Class FAQs

Q- I have no previous experience sewing before but fancy giving it a go - is it ok to come along?
A - Of course! Most people on our beginners classes are in the same boat. We talk you through the machine and how it works. You will learn how to thread it and have a full understanding of stitches etc before we start on our projects. You will be amazed how much you end up knowing and at what you make over the two days.

Q - I'm not sure what materials will be suitable for the projects we make in the class?
A - You are provided with a full list of what you should bring along and where you can buy everything. We can also provide you with a Beginners Kit which has everything you'll need for the class - just add it when you book. You can contact us at any time if you have any questions.

Q - I have a little bit of experience on a sewing machine but it was a long time ago - should I come on a Beginner's Class?
A - It really is up to you, our beginner's projects do involve quite a lot of different techniques which set you up well for future sewing projects. If you find you pick it up quickly then you'll just have a bit more time at the end for your own project which is a bonus. We can also offer private lessons if you think you would prefer to just go over a couple of things.
