Top 3 Beginner’s Sewing Class FAQs
Q. I can’t even sew a button on, will I be able to manage on the beginners sewing class?
A. ABSOLUTELY! We assume you’ve never even seen a sewing machine before so if you’ve ACTUALLY never seen a sewing machine before that’s absolutely fine! There is no pressure to be the most amazing sew-er, we focus on the social side and the de-stressing side of sewing too so as long as you are enjoying yourself, you’re doing it right!
Q. I’m really interested in making clothes for myself, do I have to do the beginner’s sewing class first?
A. If you have no previous sewing experience then yes. This is because our beginner’s sewing class is the only one that shows you how to thread the machine and all the sewing basics like pinning techniques, what seam allowances are, how to manoeuvre the machine etc. Every skill you learn in the beginner sewing class is transferable and totally necessary for your dressmaking journey so it’s not a waste of your time!
Q. I used to sew years ago but I haven’t in a while and I would like to get back into it, should I do the beginners sewing class?
A. It’s totally up to you! We often get people on the beginner’s sewing class who used to sew and they want to come along and jog their memory. If you come on the class and you end up quicker than everyone else it just means you can make multiple make up bags etc! Another option however is booking in for a private session with one of our tutors to get your confidence back up and then you would be able to book onto other classes with your sewing confidence back on track!
